I have a dell laptop that i want to connect to a wireless internet connection and share with my desktop. do you know what i need to do this or a website that explains everything in plain english? i have a dsl connection thru our local phone company. could you also tell me the purpose of a usb network adapter and if i need one to go with the router for a wireless connection. Also, my desktop only has usb connections and not ethernet connections. Dell told me that i would have to get a usb to ethernet converter in order for it to work. Do you know if that is true and where can i buy one? Thanks.

You'll need to purchase a wireless router. It connects between your dsl modem and your pc.It transmits a wireless signal allowing your notebook to wirelessly pickup the signal and connect to the interent.
As for the usb hub you will need some adaptor to connect the router back to the pc.

Also be sure to set up some sort of password for your wireless connection so that others can't freely jump on your network.
As for the hub check out newegg.com or compusa or probably radioshack.

What you need is a wireless router. Once you configure it,which is quite easy really, you will be able to get internet connection with your laptop but in order to get internet in your desktop you will need a wireless usb adapter once this is installed internet will also be available there, thats how I use my lap top and desk top (which is a dell ) at home.

Is it failing to %. up the on the spot connection or the on the spot adapter isn't yet totally put in. If its the "community accss in user-friendly words" challenge after connecting to the on the spot community. attempt to make effective that your device has the valid TCP/IP protocol and of which it has an ip handle, subnet mask & default gateway. to work out this stuff bypass to start up>then form cmd (contained in the search container) and press enter> contained in the black exhibit screen (command on the spot)>form ipconfig> then see if the three issues that i discussed are there. in the adventure that they don't seem there form in ipconfig /renew and then restart your device.
