Well, personally, I have always called them "Smashing Pumpkins" because that's what I've always heard.

I did a little research and found otherwise according to Wikipedia who says there is a "The" in the beginning of the beginning. Who knew?

But then again, I did a search on Google and found their official website which is apparently orchestrated by Billy Corgan and says "Official Smashing Pumpkins" jargon.

So as I do trust the sources of Wikipedia, I am siding with Billy Corgan directly on this one and declaring the band officially Smashing Pumkins :O)

It was simply "smashing pumpkins" to start off with in their early days and early albums then in later albums they started to use "the smashing pumpkins" so technically it is both.or at least was both.i hear they are getting back together for a new album.i am assuming they will be going under the name the smashing pumpkins as they did with their later albums.

I'm pretty sure there is a "the." I've always said it with a "the."
