While programs can be installed on your second harddrive, drivers for printners and other devices will be installed within the running operating system. In your case, that is on the primary drive.

Most software installations default to your C: drive, you usually have to choose "custom" or "advanced" installation in the beginning, if you want a different destination drive. Try uninstalling the printer then try again- just carefully check every prompt along the way. Perhaps you accidentally gave it a drive letter for your CD-ROM drive instead of the new hard drive, and it reverted to the default? Also, have you used the new drive for anything else yet? New drives need to be formatted before you can use them. If someone else did the installation for you, this should have already been done.

Of course with printers and other hardware, some information has to be written to the system registry (which is located on your original drive, not the new one) There's no way to prevent that but the vast majority of those space-consuming data files should go to whatever drive/folder you chose, unless the installation program is buggy.

you can't install anything on the second hard drive. any softwares you want to install will be installed on the first hard drive, the one with the operating system installed on.
