San Francisco is generally overcast and foggy 10 out of 12 months. I would count on 60 degree weather in early May. It may rain, but not too much. I've been here forever. Some years I've seen heat waves in May, and some years it's so cold it almost feels like winter.
More info--
Highest temp: around August (80's)
Lowest temp: around January (40's)
Highest Rainfall: October
Lowest Rainfall: July

It can be pretty chilly there any time of the year. At any given time, It's usually about 10 degrees colder in San Francisco than it is in neighboring cities. Plan on anywhere between 50-60 during the day.

Actually that is a good time to visit S.F. More sunny days but it will not be hot-- you will need to have a light jacket, corduroy, or wind breaker. ( always have an umbrella handy- it is near the end of the rainy season about April 15th) Temperatures cool in the morning 48 to 55 and afternoons 55 to 75. After 6:00 pm have a light jacket or covering.

It will probably be a bit overcast, but it can also have the most glorious sunny days. If your thinking of what to pack - think umbrella and clothes which you can layer! Check out the weather page on Google.
