Sorry Sweetie, you can't. Nagging will only push him away. No one can quit unless/until they are ready. Believe me, I know, I've 'quit' at least 10 times. But when I get around it I want it again. I'm one of those unlucky people who actually enjoys it. I just consider myself a lifetime smoker who takes vacations. He may be the same way. Some of us are just more prone to smoke than others. Especially if he was raised with smoking parents.
Give him time, he will probably decide to quit someday. Until then, just offer him lots of gum.

Its a very hard habit to break .......the only way he will quit is if HE WANTS TO QUIT, its all on him.............perhaps you can do your part by digging up info/pictures on how bad it is for the health of himself along with others, also tell him that its gross to kiss when he smokes and that his hair stinks along with his clothes & hands.......be encouraging & supportive..................gradually decreasing the amount he smokes a day & replaceing the habbit perhaps with hard candy or gum when he gets the urge. Have him set a date & mark it on the calendar to stop smoking.
Good Luck!

You cannot make someone quit smoking if they don't want to quit. You can only encourage him not to smoke.

You can't
You can only ENCOURAGE him to do so...
If he doesn't WANT TO... he isn't gonna.
When he wants to... if he wants to... go out and drop 3 dollars and buy him the book "Quitting Smoking" for dummies. (Not kidding)... it's replete with hints and suggestions and action items that will help.
But until HE'S ready... you're screaming at the wind.

Being supportive and not nagging is probably the best way. Of course there are those who say withholding certain pleasures will do it, but that doesn't make for a good relationship.

You have to help him out and give encouragement. Don't try to punish him if he can't quit right away, you have to be patience because it could take a little while for him to quit completely.

Do what MY gf did to me years ago..."IF YOU'RE GOING TO SMOKE, DON'T EXPECT TO BE KISSING OR HUGGIN ON ME! KISSING A SMOKER IS LIKE LICKING AN ASHTRAY" Then keep your word on it! I haven't smoked since 1963,
