windows xp has a built in popup blocker.
but if the popups are caused by bad programs on your computer that cant be stoped by a popup blocker.
download spybot s&d its free and one of the best spyware removers out there.
scan with that after installing and updating it, and see if it helps stop the popups

You can either use Firefox web browser http://www.getfirefox.com or if you want to continue to use Internet Explorer, I would suggest (I know that Yahoo will not like this) Google tool bar. http://toolbar.google.com

mozilla firefox... download that... use it instead of internet explorer.
run an adware and spyware cleaner to be sure you aren't infected.
that should take care of everything.
