It's because the dairy products and meat we receive from a cow,are very good in taste. Also, some people practice Hinduism and the cow is considered sacred because they believe the cow is symbolic of abundance, the sanctity of all life and of the earth that gives much and asks nothing in return. Hindus do not worship the cow, but the cow holds an honored place in society and Hindus do not eat beef.

It's the animal most generous to humans. It gives it's offspring, it's milk, and it's own flesh, as well as providing cowboys some real bucking action. Oxen are cattle trained to do work.
All that and personality, too.

It has many uses. Leather for clothing, meat for food, milk to drink. It is easy to care for, requiring at it's most basic only large grassy areas.
