How do you find slope? is it y2 - y1 over x2 - x1? and...

this is the slope:

would you be trying to figure out this part: \ with the formula? and

if this part: | is 9" and this part: __ is 46.5, would the formula be 1 - 1 over 46.5 - 9? (rise to run)

Slope Formula

m = y₂- y₁/ x₂ - x₁

Ordered Pairs

insert the x and y values into the formula.

(1, 4)(-1, 2)

m = 2 - 4 / - 1 - 1

m = - 2 / - 2

m = 1

rise over run (rise / run) rise is 9 inches, run is 46.5... take 9 and divide it by 46.5 and you get your answer. if you have coordinates

such as (2,1) and (3,5) (x,y)

it would be 3 - 2 = 1

and 5 - 1 = 4

divide 4 by 1 and you get 4
