i have this m8 who is always looking in the mirror to cheak her hair and make up. would you say this is vain because my deffonition of vain would be someone who loves themselfs but the only reason shes looking in the mirror is not to look and think oooh im so georgeos but just to cheak shes looking alright. i know this is a kind of pointless question but its just something i was thinking about. xxx

I think that if you want to look nice and take care of yourself- then thats what i would call self respect. But If your mate is a big head and poses in the mirror all the time then maybe she is vain!!

I look in the mirror (if I can find one) to see if I look okay. Its not vain.

I think she just lacks confidence and just wants to know that she looks alright. Maybe as she gets older she will gain confidence and it won't bother her so much. I think women want to look as good as they can but it isn't necessarily vain, just part of our nature.

naah shes not vain, she probably feels her hair and make up are her best features and has to check that its looking nice. u might find shes quite unconfident and having her make up on is like her mask, and shes just checkin to make sure its still lookin ok and she can hide behind that. thats the reason i wear make up, its my mask against bad comments, as im told i look pretty with make up on.

u could call it vain. i call it cautious. i do the same thing. we've all seen those people walkin around with smudged eyeliner, or hair stickin out, or a booger hangin out their nose, or lipstick/ food on their teeth. if only they had takin the oportunity to check out their reflection for a second, they would have saved themselves the embarrassment...

naw, she's just insecure, or just doesn't want to look bad in front of people. being around in public or friends can really make some people self conscious. but i doubt that. she's just normal. if she's got something stuck between her teeth, I don't think she's going to want to walk around like that.
However, she's self conscious if she does it excessively. there's a fine line between vanity and insecurity for sure. i hope she doesn't have low self-esteem.
