Let's be grammatically correct before being politically correct.

I agree that grammar is important, but so is spelling! Don't mean to be rude, but that is easy to check and hardly anyone seems to do so.

Back when I was in high school I had to do the whole grammar thing. That was freshman year in 2000. I dont have the best grammar skills anymore. Use it or loose it and usually you take after who you hang out with. I work construction, I did in high school but I lost it now. I would still like to think they teach it in High School. LOL I hated D.O.L.

I would estimate about 1992. Most folks that age or older are able to write, spell, and punctuate in standard English. Those who went to school after that year, seem to lack the skill.

And a good place to start is with the President. If the leader of the country can't pronounce words correctly or put together a coherant thought, what does that tell our young people? Why should they care?

Grammar became not so important when we started to realize that the exploration of ideas is more important than where a comma goes. When you are so afraid of making a mistake in grammar, other things can be neglected.

They stopped when it became more important to make sure that the students didn't feel bad about theirselves...
