a lot of the talent that got released is due to the fact that they are not main event draws. Meaning the fans dont really come to see them persay. If the Bashem Brothers ( released ) were wrestling in one building and DX in another building right across the street... which match would you go see?
the big names bring in the fans.. which in turn bring in the money.. and if you cant do that... or in a worse case scenario.. the fans start chanting "Boring.. boring.. boring.. " suring each one of you matches.. then you might be in trouble. WWE officals hear such chants and they know that if the show aint good.. then the crowd wont like it.
Bashems, Terkay, Rodney mack and that half-man-thing he calls his wife Jazz, and the rest.. they just couldnt cut it. The only one I had hopes for and was sorry to see leave is Tatanka. I really was getting into his character turning heel. I thought that would have been a great twist on his character.

I know, Tatanka was actually getting entertaining in the feud with Jimmy Wang Yang, and they released half the ECW roster. Instead of releasing them, maybe they should have found a way to ue them! Without Tony Mamaluke, what's going to hapen to Trinity or Little Guido? If they weren't being used on ECW, they could've made up excuses to put them on another show...

They are making room for the new talent that is coming up, there is just not enough room for everyone, besides, it just allows these guys to have a better career in TNA or other feds where Vince will not give them a push.

Because they're old and way past their primetime. WWE is bringing some BIG names, and bringing back some BIG legends.
Fire 5 useless superstars, hire 2 BIG names. A real DEAL

Some of them were actually useless. Others I can agree with like Terkay. They really should have kept him. He was underutilized. But the Bashams, Gymini, we don't even see them anymore.
