I have a external hard disk drive, which uses a 36 pin adapter to USB cable. which I'm trying to find a replacement for.

No, you can't connect a hard drive to a USB port with a USB to centronics adapter.

There are USB to SCSI adapters but I haven't seen any that connect directly to a SCSI drive. You'd need an external SCSI box and would have to install the drives in the box and connect the adapter to the box's SCSI port.
