I have experience with depression. My advice: If you're feeling like you can't go on feeling the way you do go to the Dr.!!! Discuss meds. available. You may not prefer to be on them, I know that I don't like taking them(side effects, etc.) Sometimes they are necessary though. If meds. aren't necessary try going to book store. Inspirational books can help break the negative thought pattern. Be aware of your thoughts and work on thinking more positive. Have someone to talk to, support can be therapeutic. If you can't find anyone you're comfortable with consider trying a psychiatrist. I know how much depression hurts and I hope I was able to help you.

There are lots of theories. The most basic explanation is a chemical imbalance within the brain. Theres a low amount of dopamine being released and absorbed. Or the serotonin levels are off. The good news is though that there are lots of ways to fight depression. if haven't already, i would start seeing a therapsit and maybe even a psychiatrist who can prescribe some of the very effective drugs on the market today. In extreme cases ECT can be used ans is usually very effective (and not the horror show it use to be).

Depression is a cycle. You are down and you feel like no one cares or wants to be around you. You can only see the negative. You need something to break the cycle, and any number of therapies can help. You just need to take the first step and i hope you do.

Good luck!

People who have a bad past tend to build a wall around their personal life and when this wall is built they make themselves comfortable in this four sided wall they have built and slowly become lonely. When lonliness hits it is followed by depression. Some times the useage of drugs also leads to depression.

Good physical ativities like sports or yoga or gym can beat depression by putting stress on your body and distracting your mind towards ur body pain than your brain pain thats called depression.

Other way would be to change your life style to beat depression

Your partner just broke up with you . . .
A loved one or a pet died . . .
You lost your job . . .
You didn't get accepted into that professional school . . .
Other times, however, the reasons for our depression are not quite as clear; that is, there may not be just one "cause," but a variety of contributing factors that accumulate over time and lead us to that feeling of being defeated, demoralized, hopeless, helpless, depressed. And sometimes, with factors like low self-esteem or anxiety, it may be almost impossible to say which causes which

Much of it has to do with genetics. Interesting enough, from what I've read, women are more depressed these days when they get pregnant and this can very much effect the baby. Other than that, one thing leads to another while someone is growing up and they don't think to stop it before it gets worse.

people usually get depressed because they have something going on in their life that is bothering them or something is going on at school or something like that. Some people can be born with depression and you can take pills for depression. So if you have depression and it has been going on for a long time i would recommend going to the doctor!

Depression is suffering, sometimes seen as mental echoes of physical pain. Other somatic expressions can be a sense of "dispirited", or "lagging" or being weighed down, and a heaviness in breathing, expressed as broken or despondent sighs. It may also be associated with apathy, boredom, hollowness and lack of any positive source of interest or joy.
