I know it won't add much power, but it should improve economy as well. Right? tell me if I'm wrong. The main reason for me looking at going down this route is a lack of money to spend.

No, the changes are so minimal that it would not affect the running of the engine enough that you need to make any adjustments. You do understand that putting in a performance filter will not result in any performance gain that can be felt, right?

No way you're going to get 5HP from a performance air filter on a 1.3 liter engine. You'll be lucky is you get 1/2 of a HP.
Don't waste your money. Just make sure that the factory installed filter is clean. I was a mechanic and tuned performance cars for over 20 years.

If it has a carburetor - maybe. I wouldn't expect it, but in 1989 they still had a few cars with those. If it has fuel injection - no.

I ran a performance air filter in my Ford Focus - didn't notice any gains in power or fuel economy at all.

No. But a performance air filter would only give you a max of 5hp

No, no tuning....I would suggest a high flowing muffler to go with your high flowing intake..... they work together.... the better an engine breathes the more power you can get from it.
