Ok, for those of you that live near to airports you probably don't have this problem, but others of us that have to travel to the main London ones - do you find that the choice of bus and train times are terrible.
That the trains are unreliable and expensive
That driving and parking a car is expensive.
That you have to have really long journeys because the coaches stop off all over the place, that they are full at certain times and the waiting areas are not good.

Luckily I live twenty minutes from Heathrow (on a good day) and less than an hour from Gatwick, so don't have your problems. Saying that even living this near the Airports is stressful with the potential traffic let alone from hours away. You have my sympathies!

We always travel from Luton Airport. Fortunately we drive, so we take our car and park it at 'Airports parking', we normally go down the night before and stop at 'The Holiday Express' just 5 minutes from the Airport. You get a good deal by booking online with Holiday Express, they do a deal for the night with 7-14 days parking. Normally costs between £90-£100 total.

We live just over an hour from Manchester airport, always take our own car with us and use Premier car parks, if you book yourself you get a really good deal if you book through your travel agents its a bit dearer, we've just booked our car in for 26 days and its cost us £5 per day which we think is really good for secure parking with a company you can trust, glad I don't have to pay the prices you do in London, why is it so expensive there.
