It's just the way it is. And think about the last Presidential election, two average students from Yale - both Skull and Bones members (Kerry's dad was Air Force, Bush's Dad was a Naval Aviator). But who are you going to get to do it? You need motivated, energetic people. Even Hillary and Bill are Ivy League, and even though I disagree with their politics, they are well-educated, motivated and energetic - you want some Yahoo Answers people running the country?

Because the Gov/Corps have slowly taken away our ability to come together and talk about these issues. We spend most of our times talking to a very small group of people about the issues. Even Rome had huge gathering places for the people to get together and talk about issues in some limited form. The US doesnt have hardly any places where thousands of people can get together and start talking together and listening to ideas. So the average person is left with the idea that they have no power and no place to voice thier issues. The interent could have been a great place to do this type of thing but instead it has been set up into a small group system. Web Sites like yahoo dont really allow thousands of people to get together at once and chat. The best they can do is make a message board like yahoo answers where you can see what type of questions and answers are being made and form your own ideas about them. This doesnt really help you form a large group of people together that have similar ideas about how things should be. I dont really know all the answer to this problem but I can tell you that not doing anything to try and solve it isnt gona help any either.

How many "elite" Dems do you people know? How could anyone lay the "heat" about this question at the feet of the "liberal" schools? (Which characterization of the public schools I disagree with, btw. I attended both parochial and public schools, and was mostly "indoctrinated" in the idea that America was great, could do no wrong, and that our leaders always had our best interests at heart. Hardly liberal thought, that!)

I'm NOT passive about the 5% of the people who own 95% of the wealth in the world running any governments, but how do you stop them? They have the money, the power and the weapons???

because our 'government' has grown beyond the average person's ability to understand it. Even if people are smart or educated enough to understand, they also must navigate around a consumeristic society that brainwashes us and media that largely does not do its job.

Exactly what is it about that fact that folks are supposed to get un-passive about?

Please include your preconceived notions next time.

because they have been indoctrinated by our educational system which was taken over by the radical leftists of the 50's and 60's into believing that these socialistic idiots with money can think of america first instead of themselves...as long as the leftist way keeps pushing forward, the profs and teachers will keep on endorsing this crap....
