I read it....unfortunately!
I won't lie though, I kinda enjoyed it at first. But the enjoyment was more one of familiarity - I kept seeing some of my favourite authors in there!!!! JRR Tolkien, Anne McCaffrey, Ursula Le Guin, to name three. The names, the places, the plot.... I got tired pretty quickly, though, and bored. Nothing original there, to hold my attention.
That's why I never even bothered to look for the other books - it was very irritating for me to have read a poor, watered-down, unoriginal version of some of my favourite books!!!
I don't mind reading books like those by Terry Pratchett, which are parodies - half the fun is to spot where he got the "inspiration" from!!!!
I didn't bother to see the movie either. Curiousity did prompt me to look at the trailer on the 'net - it looked like a rip-off Harry Potter to me!!!! Blegh! Is there nothing in the least original connected to this book?
Trash definitely, in my opinion!

I Liked The Book. It Reminded Me Of Other Fantasy Books But These Days Every Fantasy Book Is About The Same. It Was Boring At Some Times And Didn't Hold Your Attention For More Than A Few Pages Until The End Of THe Book Where It Finally Got Interesting. It Actaully Reminded Me A Bit Of "The Lord Of The Rings"

Because I'm a 21 year old closet dork I've read it, recently. I actually really enjoyed it and ended up buying the following book. I don't think it realy plagiarized Tolkein too much at all. There are lots of differences and extremely different story lines. It's not the best written book ever, but it is far from pooly done. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I'm a an avid reader of all sorts of books, and I really did enjoy Eragon quite a bit.

I bought it based on all the accolades it gets on here, and it's a tough read for me.
The writing seems choppy and yes, a lot of the storyline is predictable. I think having read Anne McCaffrey's dragon series makes it more so. I plan to finish it. It's an easy read, sure, but is taking me forever.
I have found myself getting into it a little more with some of the characters. I like the animals with attitude.
One thing I especially LOVE about the book, however, is the number of young people that have picked it up and read it. For that, especially, the author needs to be credited. I might try the second book. We'll see. I definitely will NOT see the movie - that has universally been panned. :)

In some senses I enjoyed it. It was EXTREMELY like other books, but it was a good read for the plane I was on. It was very obviously written by a teenage boy though. It was easy to tell, what with the "teenage nothing becomes hero of the universe and has babes falling all over him thing." So, if you could forget that it was good.
Then again, it was extremely obvious that "The Da Vinci Code" was written by an older man... --shrugs--

By the way Christopher Paolini, the author, was 15 when he wrote the book. Yes, Eragon is a really good book if you like fantasy you are going to love it. It has action in the end, really good details, and it's a little like Harry Potter, you know with the magic. Anyway I recommend this book.

Many people think that it plagarized LOTR (lord of the rings) and I can see that it has many similarites, but i think saying he plagerized is going way too far. There are several creative plotlines that are his own work, and he has done a very good job at interweaving the lives of the various characters. For a 19-year-old, it's a good book. bottom line; It does recall LOTR for me, a little, but I greatly enjoy the books. (the movie's crummy, though, they cut out WAY too much. the special effects were amazing (saphira) but the plot could have been done alot better. They cut out the whole bit about him learning how to use magic.)

no. i have a tendency to provide each and every of the treasure away and keep the trash , yet i continuously locate out when I actually have gave it away that it become valueable. The Trash isn't my trash although will be properly worth no longer some thing in money yet gold in innovations.
