no, he was traded to the packers from the Atlanta Falcons. the Falcons didn't think he was going to be any good because he was too much of a kid. But Ron Wolf of the Packers took a chance with Favre and it payed off really well.

there was no accident that he became a packer

Edit:
To anthro_coro.....Were you actually thinking that Vick was around when i came to the falcons trading Favre to the Packers? Favre was drafted with the 6th pick in 2nd round of the 1991 draft. Vick was drafted with the first pick in the first round of the 2001 draft. Brett Favre is a full 11 years older then Vick and that would make Vick 11 years old when Atlanta drafted him...do you really think Vick started playing football at age 11...come on thats crazy.

Favre started playing football for the Packers in the 1992-1993 season. His consecutive game streak started during on the 4th game of the 1992 season when the Packers played the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ron Wolf stated with the Packers in November of the 1991 season. After working for the NY Jets. He was responsible for hiring Mike Holmgren, trading for Brett Favre, and bring free-agent Reggie White to the Packers from the Philadelphia Eagles. Ron Wolf retired as a GM in 2001.

Not unless the Atlanta Falcons "accidentally" traded away the wrong Brett Favre to the Green Bay Packers and the Packers didn't realize it. LOL!!!!

Anyone who watches No. 4 Brett Favre play football can tell that THE MAN is still having WAY too much fun to even think about retiring. I'm a long-suffering RAIDER fan (but a FOOTBALL FAN, first and foremost), and I've totally enjoyed watching Brett, year after year. I'm a HUGE fan, whether he wins or loses each year. He's a real class act! I'm glad that he finally has a team behind him this year.

Brett was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons. He was there for one year, and then got traded to the Packers (I believe it was the '93 season). While he was in Atlanta, he was their 3rd string quarterback, because he was out partying way to much, and his coach (Jerry Glanville) couldn't stand him. The year that he was drafted, Ron Wolf (Former Packers GM ) was with the Jets. He had every intention of drafting Brett to play with the Jets, but the Falcons took him one pick earlier. When Ron Wolf was hired by the Packers, the first thing he did was contact the Falcons and traded for Brett.

NO, Atlanta got rid of him b/c they felt he didn't have the composure necessary to become a successful NFL QB.
