legally, you can use Sony's most recent firmware update for all those perks, or you can join the homebrew community and follow all instructions to install Dark Alex's 3.0x OE custom firmware. After doing that, you need to use a program that can rip an iso, bin, or img file from a PSX game cd. Once that is done, the file needs to be converted to a psp usable rom using a conversion utility called popstation.

Not entirely correct. To run any emulated PSP game on the PSP, you need to emulate the lowest version of the firmware it will run on. As for PSX games, you'll need to emulate at least v3.0 to get those to run on it.

if u have 2.8 or lower and dont have a newer psp u can downgrade. to check how new it is. open up umd tray and look behind the little letters umd on the green board for numbers. no gold numbers ur ok. psp-hacks.com for downgrader
