well it takes a lot, we usually pretend to be someone we are not just to "fit in" or "be cool", this way you will never be happy, and no one will love you for who you really are..
being YOU takes a lot but it pays back, do what you want to do, be who you want to be!!!!
success my friend!!!!

I am not sure you want to hear this, but it only takes the act of growing up. I don't mean physically, an I don't mean mentally. What I mean is that you have to spiritually grow. This doesn't mean a religious experience. What I mean is that you must be able to feel you. You must be able to love you. You must be able to laugh at you, and cry for you. to be totally you is to not be what others perceive you as.

well, the way i see this is that with the concept of 'you', the word 'you' is referring to myself and so what it takes for me to be the person i am and the type of person that i am is through a number of factors: firstly in reference to 'you' or 'me' it is that those words signify me and my own intent to others, secondly for me to be myself, i have to remain true to myself and my roots and not be something or someone that i am not, thirdly, i have to be my own person and do things according to how i see fit. if it ends up biting me in the backside afterwards, alas it turns out to be a bad move on my part then so be it. i see making mistakes as not as bad as it sounds because i intend to learn from them afterwards.
therefore, the ideology of 'you' stems from individuality, honesty, integrity, having belief in yourself and your abilities. by not sounding arrogant, for me, its about myself- not my mates, members of my family or anyone else. just me

You will always be yourself as long as you are true to yourself. And to be happy with the "you" that you are, be happy with your life and what you doing and be at peace with the world.
