The passages dealing with homosexuality have been misinterpreted for centuries. The truth is, the people who wrote the Bible didn't even know what homosexuality was. An understanding of homosexuality didn't happen until 1869. The passages that many claim denounce homosexuality, are actually denouncing lustful sex, not homosexual sex. Yes, I know that there are passages that deal with two men having sex. However, they were denounced for their lust towards one another, not the act they were committing. The Bible makes several references to lustful heterosexual sex as well. As long as two individuals are in love and committed to one another, there is nothing wrong with them having sex. That is what the Bible believes. The truth is, people have had it wrong for years. People have wanted for so long to believe that homosexuality is wrong, that the saw what they wanted to see in the Bible, not what was really there.

Of course I know that homosexuality has been around forever. I meant that people didn't understand the concept until 1869.

Did some of you even read what I wrote? Let me break it down for you. You realize that there is a difference between love and lust, right? What I am trying to get through to you is that the Bible is condemning lustful sex, not homosexual sex. All of the accounts of homosexual acts in the Bible that were condemned were lustful acts. Maybe our world is so corrupt that people don't even know the difference anymore. Sex with someone you love= good
Sex with someone you lust for=bad
Get it?

The last part of the last line is very true. In actuality the bible when it was created was NOT meant to be a governing book by which we live our lives. It was meant to tell stories and pass on traditions. They aren't meant to be taken literally.
On the subject of homosexuality, when the bible was created it was very common for there to be same sex relations. It wasn't until later dates that it was rewritten to condemn homosexuality because of a dwindling population.
I can't imagine how many people I've just pissed off with that. But those are the facts, coming from a Christian.

The bible is often misinterpreted, and I don't think anti-gay people have any business going around trying to explain homosexuality. After all, what could they really know about something like this? They aren't qualified to explain it! I can tell you firsthand that being gay is by nature, not by choice. Nature makes some of us gay and some heterosexual. If there is a god, I'm sure gays are not hated. There are many homosexuals who are christians, too. And yes, even homosexuals have the power to procreate if we so choose. Honey, I've been a lesbian all of my 37 years of life and I know more about homosexuality than some hater ever will.

The Bible clearly states that its wrong. Abomination is not a good thing. I'm tired of gays trying to change the Bible to justify their perversions. God made it loud and clear that it is wrong. People need to just be honest and just say "Forget what the Bible says." "I'm going to be gay anyways." It's better than trying to mislead people by throwing up BS websites that clearly goes against the Bible. If the word goes against what's in the Bible, then its not Gods law.
By the way I believe anything speaking negative about homosexuality in the New International Version of the Bible was taken out. Supposedly there's a homosexual who sits on the committee and claimed that gays were offended by what it says about their lifestyle. So they took it out, which I believe is blasphemy. I would encourage everyone to stick with the King James Version.

Yes, the Bible has been misunderstood for years. Another example is Adam and Eve. "God" put these two people on the earth to populate it,right? Well Adam and Eve had 2 sons Cain and Able first. So to populate the planet there would need to be a lot of incest committed to populate the planet.Mother and son, dad and daughter and then brother and sister. I think "God" would have planned that better don't you? So the Bible seems to have lots of flaws.

You're partially right. The Bible speaks of heterosexual as well as homosexual sin. When sex is taken out of the context God created it for (one man with one woman after they have committed themselves to eachother before God and the body of Christ, and with no other till the death of either), it is sin.
The Bible speaks of quite a lot of sin. Just because a story is in the Bible does not mean it's God saying, "This is okay cuz they did it." It's in there for us to learn from and see that they have problems like us. God can take anybody and do something amazing with each of us because He did something amazing with all those idiots who lived thousands of years ago and whose triumphs and mistakes were written of.

Thank you. And did you know the truth about why God destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah? It was NOT because of the gay issue, as the church wants the world to believe.
Here it is right, from the Bible (Ezekiel):
Ezekiel 16:49 This was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. v:50 They were haughty, and did abominable things before me; therefore I removed them when I saw it.
It is obvious that whatever the sin of Sodom was, universal homosexuality was not it. It appears to be closely connected with pride, and not taking care of the poor!

I recommend the book "The Children are Free: Reexamining the Biblical Evidence on Same-sex Relationships" by Rev. Jeff Miner and John Tyler Connoley. This book deals with the same topic, showing evidence that the bible actually SUPPORTS the idea of gay marriage. It was a very interesting read.

Sleeping and having sex with the same gender as yourself is very strange to me. God did not create Adam and joe. He created Adam & Eve for a purpose..He gave them different sexual organs for a purpose. I'LL never understand it anyway.. What has a Man got that a woman does'nt have when it comes to sex. The result is the same isnt it. He puts his organ into a bodies orafice. Why does he want to do it with a man instead of a woman. The end result is an orgasm when it comes to sex. Will somebody Gay explain this to me please..

I think a lot of people that actually preach the bible have never read the whole thing, and if they have, do not have the education needed to understand what it is actually saying. I've misinterpreted parts myself. But I thank you for clarifying this for us all. We need to focus more on what the bible is trying to tell us: Love is the most important thing of all.
