If she is wanting to do it herself I see no harm. Sounds like she's ready. You can ask the pediatrician to put your mind at ease, but she wouldn't be doing it if she wasn't strong enough. Interestingly, I read somewhere recently that it's not back-strength that makes a baby able to sit up so much as a development of the inner ear that allows them to BALANCE in that position. You might get (or borrow-they are expensive) a bumbo chair. Look it up online, they are great for new sitters.

I babysit a 3 month old girl who does the same thing. Her parents worry about spinal damage too, but I have seen this before and the kids who do this never have any problems, in fact they all three crawled and walked earlier than most babies. I allow, Becca, the 3 month I care for now to sit up whenever she tries. I think it shows eagerness to be moblie and strengthens the muscels. She loves it and coos and smiles, seeming very pleased with herself. To me, the bottom line is, if the baby shows she is ready to do this, then let her. Good luck.

you're fine, tell everyone to leave you alone. a boppy works great, and they love the new view. also try the bumbo chair, it not only will allow baby to sit up and enjoy things, but it is designed to support the spine. my baby was sitting up in her bumbo at 7 weeks and even at a year it still is working great as a booster seat at the table or restaurants. you're doing nothing wrong. just give the baby enough support so the baby feels secure.

just make sure the baby is supported and you are fine, tell everyone not to worry this is a normal thing for them to do. it looks like a whole different world when she sits up plus she proberly loves to be closer to you ..if your family is that worried metion something to the doc and let your family know what he said...all he will proberly tell is is just make sure she is supported and not let to long sitting and not to leave her alone

He started wanting to be up at about 3 months, he was curious. about 3.5 months he could sit up but was wobbly lol. At about 4 months or so if you sat him up he could hold it for about 10-15 minutes. 5 months he was doing great!!! 6 months he could roll over and sit himself up without assistance.
They all do it at their own pace.

When they can hold their giant heads up, its safe. While that head is still rolling around though, something bad COULD happen.
When Caleb was ready, we just made sure he had a soft place to fall over if he tipped...he'd cry, but who cares, he was fine, it's all about developing.
