I live in a seaside town with cliffs. All the houses along the seafront have the cliffs behind them. In some places you can not even get a clear signal, just snow. The only way to watch TV is by satellite. Even then you have to pay THE FULL licence fee. The argument is that BBC is on satellite too. Oh well.

I really don't understand how some people dismiss the quality of BBC programmes so easily. Granted, there are a few clangers but I've always found the quality of BBC programmes to be excellent and well worth the money. Without them we wouldn't have The Office, Have I Got News For You, Doctor Who, a news service that is so good it sets the standards for others (would you like a British Fox News, cause I wouldn't...) and the sort of natural history documentaries that just wouldn't get made anywhere else.
I think it's great value for money.

unfortunately is it is law to hold a licence to view t.v whether its cable, sky, freeview, the only excemption is that cannot receive any form of signal and has been inspected by the Department of trade and industry .that means you have converted to pc.screen or games console screen.not all programmes are rubbish.you will be taken to court if caught without a licence fines depend on the courts but have never heard of anybody receiving the max amount.
