Animals USE sound to communicate. SometimeS AT night you can HEAR crickets rub one forewing against the OTHER. This produces a chirping sound that males use to attract females. Each cricket species produces several calls that DIFFER from other cricket species. Some elephants MAKE a pitch that we CANNOT HEAR.
Vertebrates use a number of different forms of sound communication. Rabbits thump the ground, gorillas pound their chests, beavers slap the water with their flat tails and frog _____

(One note.. you only bring up one idea about the elephants where as in the crickets you went into great detail. Try to think of some other points you can talk about for elephants making a sound, like for example - why do they make the sound.)

(Another note... Again, try to go into more detail as to what the rabbits/gorillas/beavers are accomplishing or trying to accomplish through making sound. And also, what do frogs do? You never specified.)

Light Communication
Animals like flies, marine organisms, and beetles have a special form of communication called bioluminesense. Bioluminescence is the ability of a certain living thing to give off light. This light is produced through a series of chemical reactions in the organism's body. Fireflies, USUALLY FEMALE, use bioluminescence to attract a mate. Females emit flashes of light at a correct time in order to attract THE MALE FIREFLY.

Your second paragraph was great!
It focused on the main topic - bioluminescense and used a great example, fireflies.
Work on your first paragraph a bit more, I left notes at the top as to what I think you should address.
Very interesting topic you have to write on!

Good luck!

The Communication Process and Animal Behavior

Sound Communication
Animals typically use sound to communicate. Depending upon the animal a variety of techniques are used to communicate with other members of the species. For example, at night you can often hear the sounds of crickets rubbing one forewing against the other. This produces a chirping sound that males use to attract females. All cricket species produce a number of unique calls which are unique to that class of cricket. The sound not only helps to identify the right kind of cricket but also helps other type of crickets to differentiate other types of crickets. On much larger scale elephants are known to make a pitch which is to high for our ears to detect. The sound however, is clearly audible to other elephants. Vertebrates also use a variety of sound to communicate with other members of their species. For example, rabbits thump the ground, gorillas pound their chests, beavers slap the water with their flat tails, and frogs. This behavior is more than instinctive behavior it is simple communication methods used by the species of animals.

Light communication
Another form of communication used by many species of animal involves the use of light in various forms. Many species such as of flies, marine organisms, and beetles have a special form of communication called bioluminescence. Bioluminescence is the ability of certain living thing to give off light. This light is produced through a series of chemical reactions in the organism’s body. Fireflies use the bioluminescence to attract a mate usually the male. Females should emit flashes of light at a correct time in order to attract males.
