first of all only avg searches for viruses, spybot and spyware doctor deal with spyware and they got nothing to do with viruses. if you install 10 different anti-spyware 5 of them would find different things. even thought different antispyware find the same computer parasite they call them be different names. that's a bit tricky, but that's the way it is, all antispyware work in different ways, some of them can catch more malware, some of them less. it's up to you which one to choose.
here's a comparison table of 10 most popular spyware removers:

Spy Doctor from http://www.pctools.com out of Australia is a purchased software that will not even allow you evaluation period. When the scan is completed you have to purchase to remove any spyware found. Get rich quick.
You can download an excellent free anitspyware for personal use only. http://www.superanitspyware.com This program will always find what all others miss. I use the free version myself.
I find to purchase antispyware program with the guard in the tray is a joke as no guard stops spyware from entering your system.
The guards do work quite well with antivirus software.

spy doctor may be a rogue antispyware tool and not to be confused with the legitimate spyware doctor - see here
http://netrn.net/spywareblog/archives/2004/08/01/spy-doctor-and-spyware-doctor/
it gives false results and then asks you to pay to remove them
get rid of it using rogue remover or spybot search and destroy - both free

this is the main reason why i tell people to install multiple spyware scanners,as each have different defenition databases,so were as one will find one spyware another wont.....
i recommend the following spyware programs for all round protection
1.spybot(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html),probally the best free spyware protection you can get,if you could only have 1 this would be it
2. adaware personal(http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5)good addition to spybot and seems to help to stop pop-ups #
3. spyware blaster(http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) excellent program, stops spyware from installing on your p.c but no scanner, very good for mozzila firefox browser protection
4. windows defender(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&DisplayLang=en)microsofts spyware program, now a intergral part of "vista"but excellent protection value in xp,a good protecter
i am not going to mention "spyware doctor" as in my opinion it isnt much better than the above free versions and from personal experience i have found it to throw up "false positives",these are infections that either dont exist or are infections that are legitimate parts to your p.c,s programs
i hope this info helps mate
good luck
