Does anyone know the name of a pet store, breeder, or website that can help me find a baby softshell turtle?

Do you have the room and requirements for them? Depending on the species (there are two main one in the US) the females can get a carapace diameter of up to 14 inches relatively quickly and will need a very large tank. Males get up to 8-10 inches usually.
They also do not eat aquatic turtle pellets (out of the 10 I have known or cared for, they only ate minnows, krill, or brine shrimp).
They are prone to fungal problems as well as getting a curved weak shell (they still have cartaliage, just not an outer bony core) from not enough calcium.
The smooth softshell turtles can live in groups, but the spiny softshells are very agressive and usually can not live with two in a tank- one will kill the other or harass it to death.

You won't be able to find one - federal laws prohibit the sale of any turtle with a shell length less than 4".

You can maybe find one if they're native to your area, but you should check your state laws about keeping native wildlife. I belive the smooth softshell is a rare/endangered species in some states.

If you want to get an older one (>4"), try the classified ads on kingsnake.com. Try to get a male - they are only about 9" at adulthood, the females can be about double that, and they have a lifespan of about 25 yrs. They require a special tank set-up so they can burrow in the substrate, should have an aquarium heater, are prone to respiratory & fungal infections, and have the personality of a snapping turtle.

(Previous owner of spiny softshell, and mine would eat turtle pellets, bloodworms, earthworms, feeder fish)

Knowing where you are would help. You can try the breeders section of http://www.kingsnake.com

I hope you have done your research and you know about the fungal problems these guys are prone to.
