bollywood is family oriented? my god! what kind of familes are we talking about?

Only because it is the biggest film industry in the world with more than 5 billion viewers which is is double of Hollywood.Bollywood films are family oriented films which the whole family can watch it together. It is the culture where the president is a muslim, PM is a sikh ,home minister is a christian and 81% of people are hindus

Because people don't know any better. Also, Indians seem to prefer to go to movies to relax - that is, the movie should be shallow and should be entertaining.. it should not require the viewer to use his intelligence - so subtleties are not allowed.. Villains must be completely evil, the hero must be completely good.. and the heriones must be very virtuos (even as they go about wearing minimal clothing).

Not all Indians are. Not this Indian anyway.
(for the same reason that Americans are proud of Hollywood.)
There are much better Indian films, e.g. those of Satyajit Ray.

Maybe all the hollywood glitz and garbage you've been exposed to has made you narrow minded. Maybe you don't personally enjoy bollywood films, thankfully more culturally sophisticated people do. I bet you'd choose McDonalds over beautiful ethnic cuisine, wouldn't you? You should seriously branch out....shame on you.

I am not Indian but I admire anyone who takes pride in their own country's work. It doesn't have to be the best (maybe one day it will be). It is quite an accomplishment to create any sort of film industry.

well im indian and i have to admit indian movies are really stupid i actually like bipasha and a few celebritys because of the dancing thats all. i like hollywood movies. and im not being ashame of being indian so watever.everyone has a diffrent taste

Not a big fan of it myself, but maybe because it's movies that don't show violence, death, hate, crime, pain and suffering? Because they are fun movies, that are meant to get you happy, and in a good mood?
because they don't have to show naked woman to get a huge hit?
Take you pick, and open your eyes to the idea that there just might be something worth watching apart from those grand Hollywood movies. Just a suggestion.

i donno but i think its really just bs i mean come on now they have brangelina and and an indian brad pitt. and they are copying our movies but subtitling them with indian! its not like indian people watch it they think its bs too!
