Falling in love, falling out of love, being assaulted, when a loved one dies, when a friend your own age dies, finding yourself in a position similar to someone you have judged harshly (i.e. really seeing it from their side), spending some time in an entirely different environment than you're used to, education, reading (particularly philosophy, history), growing up, finding yourself attracted to someone who holds very different viewpoints from yourself, having a child, being wounded/handicapped/diagnosed with a debilitating or deadly disease (or when that happens to someone you love), finding religion, making the decision to forsake religion, volunteering your time to help others... of course the list goes on....
