I really like this girl at work, the problem is that we're in seperate departments and mine does not deal with her's at all. My colleagues do not know her either.

We have made eye contact. When I looked at her as she passed my desk she ducked her head as she walked past-A GOOD SIGN?

Also I let her get in the lift before me(was quite packed) and she thanked me - again she ducked her head as she got in. She then smiled at me as the door shut.A GOOD SIGN?

Any advice appreciated....

Don't ever tell her that you will give her a brake from your friendship and always tell her the truth if you fancy her and want more than friendship. Never send her a teddy in the post OR A CHRISTMAS CARD and never ever use the word MEANING? And if she says errrrrrrrrrm something about no one respecting people the way she does RUN FOR THE HILLS.

Ducked her head?? as in, so you can't see her?? or just looks down , putting her chin into her chest? If she is ducking to hide, it appears she is aware of you, and require unique attention. However if she is just looking down to avoid looking, it maybe more general, and she could be shy. Either way, it's worth a punt. What do you have to lose?

This is how you tell, you ask her! If she says she has a boyfriend, just say "Well you know where my desk is" and at that point, you have broken the ice and can talk to her and wait for her to fall for your charm ;-)

Is she really tall or something?!

But on a serious note I think they are both good signs and surely you can get her email address through work and contact her that way :-)

And .. just be honest that's the best way! If she says she's not interested then at least you tried!

Sounds as though she is interested in you but doesn't know hot to tell you or is shy about meeting men. The next time you see her why don't you try to talk with her for a few minutes and let her know you are interested in her by asking her out and see what she says. You never know till you ask.

Okay -she might be 'ducking' her head because she's scared of you. Bear that in mind -I haven't seen the two of you together, but when guys stare at me like that sometimes I sort of flinch a bit if they're freaking me out. Perhaps you should join a dating website.

Grow up, ask the young lady out for a drink after work and take it from there, if it does not work out then just leave her alone

Why don't you send her an e-mail. I'm sure you can get her work e-mail and drop her a note saying that you want to go out for coffee or something. See what she says :) I'm sure she'll say yes!

smiles and eye contact are polite, and since it is a work place, she may just be being polite.... and you have to be careful with sexual harassment, but i would ask her to lunch one day to see.
