Well, if you don't have it removed the chances of a miscarriage are greater so you really need to have it taken out. There is always a risk when messing with the cervix during pregnancy.

I was in the same situation in December. My doctor said there's a possibility of a miscarriage, but there's even more of a concern when it is left in because of the extra hormones getting to the baby and the possibility of infection. I chose to have it removed, and luckily everything is still right on track. According to the website I listed below, it says "if a woman becomes pregnant with an IUD in place, a severe infection can result. In addition, half of those pregnancies will end in miscarriage. If the IUD is removed early in the pregnancy, there is still a 25% chance of miscarriage." Unfortunately it's a hard decision to make, but I would say it's best to have it removed so if the pregnancy continues, the baby can continue to grow normally. Best of luck to you and I hope everything works out.

"If you become pregnant with an IUD in place, your health professional may recommend that the IUD be removed. This is because the IUD can cause miscarriage or preterm birth (the IUD will not cause birth defects). Taking out an IUD early in a pregnancy lowers risks of miscarriage or preterm birth. However, IUD removal can also cause a miscarriage. As a pregnancy progresses, miscarriage risk is lower than if an IUD is left in place."

Your best bet is to see your gynocologist and ask what your best course of action is.
