I won't lie, it is awkward, but it is a necessary evil. Try to see a female doctor, they are usually more gentle. Tell them this is the first time you have had a pap smear done. They usually tell you exactly what they are doing before they do it so you aren't just lying there wondering what's coming next.

ITs no longer as undesirable because it seems. in certainty there is not any soreness in any respect. Its enormously lots impossible for it to decrease you. Iam 21 and that i've got had over 8 pap attempt. on the grounds that i've got had my first son, it style of looks like its a common factor to get it finished. in certainty i'm very greatful that they do them, only one attempt can detect many diverse ailments. no longer asserting which you have any, yet once you probably did they may be waiting to handle something in the previous it gets out of hand. additionally, the gadget that they use isn't steel, its plastic. the only factor which you sense is tension, and that purely final under a minute. The wellness care professional realizes how uncomfortable of a technique that's, so they in no way take long. frequently there is an assistant interior the room on an identical time, that hands each and everything the wellness care professional desires. I say take the attempt, its no longer something like getting a needle. once you get the attempt finished, you will relatively have the attempt than a needle. And it reward you!

Relax. That's the main thing. Tell your doctor that you are extremely nervous about this too. I'm sure they will understand.

Really it doesn't hurt. But if you are uptight, so you will be "tight" down there, and that will only work against you. The more relaxed you are, the quicker the doctor can get in and out. Honestly I don't think it takes my doctor more than 15 seconds to do what she needs to do. The only thing is maybe the instruments might be cold and the procedure feels uncomfortable but not painful, but if you tighten up the doc won't be able to get in and out of there as quickly as you would like them to. So relax.

It's really not that bad. I don't think any woman ever looks forward to it but in the end, considering it can save your life, it's a small price to pay for a little humiliation once a year for a minute or so.

Good luck!

Go to a female doctor and explain how you feel. Women doctors are very sensitive to young people and understands just how you feel. You'll be more comfortable going to a woman - and she will tell you everything she's doing. It doesn't hurt and chances are you need a little antibiotic. Don't let it go on - because it can develop into some nasty stuff. Just DO IT......you have a whole lifetime of going in front of you - so you might as well start.

I used to feel the same way when I was young - but women start doing this stuff early in life. Guys are the big babies at 40 when they START going to the doctor!! HAH.... Don't be afraid. Just tell the doctor - she'll understand.

It's a little strange at first. You feel a bit exposed. :) But it doesn't hurt, and if you have a good doctor she'll do everything she can to make you more comfortable.

If one of the nurses stays in the room, (they usually do) ask her to stand near the head of the bed so you can talk to her, and kind of ignore the bottom half of your body. It will be over before you know it. The exam really only takes about 10 minutes at the most.

Let the doctor know you are a virgin. They use a smaller speculum to check you if you are. They use a lubricant to make it easier. It hurts less if you relax [easier said than done].
It's very uncommon to have serious problems at your age and being a virgin. You are very wise to have this checked though.
You'll do fine. It'll be over before you know it.

ok - i might not be up-to-date, but i'm nopt that old...hahaha...and i don't believe you need a pap test until you are sexually active...cervical cancer is really a type iof STD and i don't believe the doctor with break you hyman for that seeing as the risk is so low...to none...but if you think you have ayeast infection...go to the doctor - like you said - he/she will just give you some cream and maybe a pill...and you know what - after you go in red-faced and uncomfortable...and spill it out - you'll realize that your doctor is a professional...and you'll feel better...good luck - i can totally relate...

if your a virgin they can do a slide test to find out about the yeast infection talk to them about other options first. as far as cancer goes that's unlikely if you're in good health. it's afterwards is when you need to worry. there is an STD that can cause cervical cancer, but not one you need to worry about since you havn't had sex yet. when you do do yourself a favor make him where protection. that disease is not one they can find in males. it's called the human pavlova virus. good luck hon!

I totally get this fear... Do you think you have a friend that would go with you or a relative ( mom or sister) someone you trust, been through this and can hold your hand.. My mom came with me for my first one... I think it helps to trust the doctor you are seeing for this procedure too... try to relax.... but do go.... the sooner something is found the better ... if there is something to be found.
