(L = 5 +2w
(2L + 2w = 52

2(5 + 2w) + 2w = 52
10 + 4w + 2w = 52
6w = 52 - 10
6w = 42
w= 42 : 6
w = 7

L = 5 + 2w
L = 5 + 2(7)
L = 5 + 14
L = 19 in
Answer: The width of the rectangle is 19 in.

It's impossible because their is way too much perimeter for the length of the rectangle to be more than twice the width.

w: x
L: 2x+5

P=2(w+L)
52= 2(x+2x+5)
52=2(3x+5)
52=6x+10
42=6x
x=7

w=7in
L= 2*7+5= 19in
