whew take it easy. she's only a week old an already you are on here? this is normal for a baby this age. you can help her learn and get her internal clock going to your schedule by keeping it dark in the evenings and keep the lights on during the day. also it's not to early to establish a bedtime routine. one days she gets a bath include it in the bedtime schedule. but at the same time each night, give her her feeding. massage her with baby lotion, at her age make sure it's perfume and dye free, read her a book, sing a lullaby, and lay her down for bed. when she gets up at night to eat, feed her and rock her and put her back to bed. keep in mind this won't work magic. she is only a week old and right now it is your job as her parent to move your life and schedule to meet her needs. good luck. don't plan on a good night's sleep for quite awhile.

Your daughter had the same problem my son had. She has her nights and days mixed up. The doctor suggested keeping the house pitch black at night and bright all day, open the windows, turn on the lights and keep her up as long as possible during the day. I'm not saying don't allow her to sleep at all, babies need their naps during the day but if you don't help her associate sleep with the dark it will just continue. Also don't play with her when you are putting her to bed, she has to be relaxed and know its time to sleep. This worked for my son. He was sleeping through the night at 8 wks. Good Luck :)

Baby still has her sleep pattern from in the womb - they are rocked to sleep all day by mummy walking around and then when it all goes quiet at night when mum goes to bed baby wakes up!!! Ask any pregnant woman! At such a young age you will find she sleeps a lot anyway and could be crying all night due to wind, even the tiniest bubbles of air can cause her a lot of pain. If she is lifting her legs up to her stomach when she cries - she has a tummy ache, try walking her around with her tummy pressed against yours and hum to her or talk quietly to her.
She may be lonely and scared - it's all very new to her!!! Try out some baby song tapes, or soothing noise tapes, it's very noisy in the womb and now at night it's all quiet, she needs time to adapt to her strange new surroundings!
If this is not the case i would try getting her up in the day, talk to her, take her out for a walk - she will be fascinated by the big new world and the fresh air will knock her out for the evening!!
Good luck - i hope i have been of some help!

This is pretty much normal for a newborn, sorry to say. You can't change it; only time will. Don't try to monkey with her "clock" by trying to keep her awake in the day. You'll just make her very unhappy, and her health could suffer.

sounds like she is convenience nursing - utilising your nipple as her pacifier. I completely comprehend. My son is 4 wks now and has merely now "outgrown" this - crossing my palms, he now feeds for purely 30 minutes at a time - rather of ninety. I produce a lot of milk so the ninety minute feedins my son could nonetheless get various of milk - too a lot for his tiny tummy, so of course he could spit it up. there grow to be no room for it. I exceptionally advise "happiest infant on the block" dvd or e book by skill of Harvy Karp, it extremely is made feeding a lot much less complicated b/c truly my son merely needed convenience greater effective than breastmilk. additionally, decrease out caffiene, I even have truly observed a difference when I gave up Dr Pepper. It does get much less complicated, and Yay! you an introduce a pacifier in some greater weeks as quickly as breast feeding is easily regular
