At 9 months, she can be eating table foods like oatmeal, mashed potatoes & the like. Green beans are a good "finger" food. Formula after meals is fine. She is just exerting her independence. Testing new things. It's part of the growing process.

All three of my kids went through this at similar ages. They want to be a bit more independant. Besides, have you ever actually TASTED that good they call food? YUCK! I have several things you can try out. First, go down the baby food aisle of your local grocery store. Go past the formula and the baby food jars (this is where they are at in all the stores around me anyway) There you will see "Gerber Graduates" Now don't let this fool you. They are safe -- soft -- foods. They have "Meat sticks" (kind of like vienna sausages) in various flavors. They have diced fruit. They have these wonderful little things called "Pasta Pickups," These are little raviolis with the yummy stuff inside not outside, just wonderful. They also have something called finger foods (I ALWAYS carry these in my diaper bag) . These are little star shaped things that actually disolve completely within 10 seconds of being put into a mouth (I've tested them :). There are also fruits and veggies similare to the "finger foods." Also, you really don't need to vary your childs food that much, just make sure they get good nutrition every meal. And don't obsess if they refuse to eat a time or two, they'll eat when they are hungry. The bottle is more than likely a habit. My sugestion here is wait until she's a year and then ditch the bottle entirely, cold turkey. Switch to milk (whole) and "Nuby" sips cups (they have a soft spout, makes transistioning easier. Just my two sense though.

we did since the bottle is the most important right now and the food more of a learning experience. give her the bottle first. then she can fnish filling herself up with the food. at 9 months you can try many different things. we always took what we were eating and chopped it up in the food processor, and just let her have at it. steamed veggies, pasta in small pieces, fruits in small squishy pieces will all keep her facinated and if some should make it to her mouth, then great! follow her dr's advice on what foods she can and can't have, but pretty much no spices or salts or such, and the usual nuts, eggs, and small pieces that can choke her are out. sweets such as candy and cake are also not a good idea at this age. peaches are my daughter's favorite dessert, she even pushed her 1st b-day cake aside for them. now is a good time to start exposing her to healthy foods. she's a baby, let her get messy and explore her meals right now.

My daughter used to like just formula and often didn't eat a lot of baby food. Although there's nothing wrong with formula, you'd probably want to continue trying to feed her some baby food like veggies and fruits and meats so that she gets more nourishment. I think if you limit the formulas to a certain number a day, and only long after the meals, she might eat more.
We used to have her eat first and not give her any formula unless she really needed it. Then it got to be just one in the morning, one before nap, and one before bed.

If you tried everything, stick with the vegetables (peas, green beans, corn), bring in some Stage 3 foods (pasta) kids tend to like that. Well mashed meats (beef, turkey), fruits (bananas, pears, peaches), breads and I heard teething biscuits are good. When you feed her the food wait about 30mins to a hour and give her a bottle of formula. Worked for me!!!(10 month old)

I have a 15mth old daughter who is very picky on what she eats too... depending on how many teeth she has you could dry the toddler graduates...i started my daughter on them at 10mths cause she didn't like the way the baby food tasted don't ask me why...it will not hurt her if she in on the toddler food before she is a toddler...also giving her formula after every meal is OK....try giving her some juice during her meal and she might not want the formula after wards...also green beans is a good finger food...also diced ham.. vanilla wafers they make mini vanilla wafers now and my daughter loves them....if you have any questions please feel free to email me at onelovingmom06@yahoo.com hopefully I gave you some good help...

Sounds pretty normal to me! Just give her as much food as she wants to eat and let her have a bottle when she is done. If she wants to eat the same thing all the time --go ahead as long as she is getting a balanced diet.
Ask your doctor for any suggestions he might have.

It sounds like she is getting ready for real foods with more flavor, and wanting more independence to feed herself. Like many others have suggested, start offering small pieces of soft, real foods that she can eat with her fingers. Also, so that she can begin learning to use utensils, offer things like mashed potatoes and her own spoon. Be prepared for messy meals!

Let her have the formula for sure, till she is one. If she's so into feeding herself it might be a good time to put it in a sippy cup instead of a bottle, though. have you tried shredded cheese? Egg whites? pasta? Bits of toast? well-steamed brocolli bits? etc etc etc

cucumbers, make your own noodle soup without the brooth and just give her the veggies and chicken anything you make you can just cut up into bit size pieces and give to her. toast and crackers work well to, but that is compeltly normal for her to want to eat by herself
