Why is my desktop empty ?

my desktop is empty there is no icon or there is no start menu.I can open everything document anything i want i can even open my internet but there are no icons and start menu on my desktop. I also have my background displayed.

Please go to Desktop > Right click (in the menu) >arrange icon by >
Show Desktop Icon (Check it) Then you can see your desktop icons.

your gf secretly went through your desk top and deleted everything!
