Aggression in Red-ears often means that the tank is too small. Aim for at least 10 gallons of water per inch of shell length. So, if yours are 3" and 4", you'd need about 70 gallons of water to give them each enouh room.

I have had turtles, bigger ones, especially red eared sliders are aggressive. We would have to separate ours just because the red eared kept harassing the soft shell. They were the same size though, so I wasn't really concerned about injury. If the one that is misbehaving is a lot bigger, you should be careful because he could potentially kill the small one. They make relatively inexpensive aquarium dividers. Good luck.

Could they be trying to mate? Sometimes turtles can be agressive. Or maybe the big one has become a bully. If they differ too much in size, I would seperate them, or the bite could be fatal.

Seperate them before one gets seriously hurt.
