Who decides what's in fashion and what's not?

I just saw the yahoo story that said leggings are the new must have for men. I was just looking at the picture thinking that is so wrong. Why do people have to follow these trends just because a magazine or some celebrity says its the thing to wear. I think we can decide for ourselves.

I just saw the same thing. I personally thought it was quite ugly.
Its true, i think people should decide what they want to wear themselves, but that doesnt really happen.
I think the people who decide whats "in" are fancy, expensive designers like Marc Jacobs, Dior, etc. Personally i think runway clothes are usually tacky and ugly. But then again i'm not a fashion expert and I like casual clothes like abercrombie and american eagle.

I think that people follow what other people are wearing. People also want to have things that are new, but really there are ideas from things that people wore in the past with a new twist to it. I think that the people should decide what is in style and what is not because they are the ones who are going to be wearing the clothes. The designers just make clothes and see is if the people are going to buy them. The fashion is a little different in every state anyway. Fashion is also different in every country.

I saw that too and i was like what the heck is up with that. Designers are so dumb!!!! I wear what I like not whats fashionable. like right now I want the "harness" midcalf boot and I dont think that they are fashionable but I like them.
