Un-educated lazy voters that refuse to educate themselves. People that don't vote but complain. A media that refuses to report the facts and truth but slants or lies to justify its perspective or support of one candidate over another. Politicians that lie to get into office. No Constitutional restrictions on Federal spending.

Education and consistent application of the laws are necessary for democracy to function. Sadly both are somewhat lacking.
