Your local Petco sells them, they are soooooo cool but be prepared to have at least a 50 gallon tank for them.

If you are in the market for a freshwater variety, I would suggest dwarf puffers. You can get them from PetSmart (they breed them), they are pretty easy to keep and have lots of personality. They can be very aggressive, so be selective about tankmates. Check out www.dwarfpuffers.com.
In the market for a saltwater variety, call a local PetCo. Many PetCo.'s I have been to have a salt water fish area. I recently saw a dog faced puffer there. Also check out your local fish speciality store, they have the ability to special order the fish you want where the larger chain stores won't.

I live in Texas right now and can purchase Freshwater MBU Puffers for $300/4" fish. They get very big and require huge aquariums, OR you can get the Dwarf Puffers that get upto about 1.5" for around $3. I dont know what they cost over there, but im sure some of the local pet stores can order in what you want if they dont have them.

You can buy a puffer fish in most big aquatic stores ideally they should ask questions about what fish you have
Puffer Fish are not ideal fish to have especially in a community tank
I had one a few yrs ago it was really aggressive i wasn`t asked any questions they just sold it to me
I would never have another one

Definitely get the one in the first picture if you really must. It will need a 30 gallon tank minimum and don't just buy it to see it "blow up." As someone else said, it's very stressful for the fish. Please don't just get a 5 gallon because it's all you can afford and get a puffer because you really want one. Research everything about them before buying one and just be responsible, it is an animal just like a dog or cat and i'm sure you wouldn't mistreat one of those or buy one if you couldn't accomodate it properly.

no that is not correct you can buy fresh water pufferfish from many shops. I recommend a specialist as some may cost alot and you need to go to a specialist supplier. there is maidenhead aqautics in the uk so go to your nearest supplier to have a look. otherwise look on classified ads on the internet and there should be sellers.

I would imagine any salt water aquaruim store, I have seen them, I have also caught big ones while out fishing (I always let them go) They are really awesome, really cute little guys, they only puff up when they're scared or in danger. The biggest one I have ever caught was like 6 inches, in my net he was all puffed up, I was like, Hey little buddy, deflate so I can let you go! LOL!!!

You will probably have to ask a privately owned fish store to special order them for you.

that depends on if you want fresh water or salt water fish. most of the larger aquatic stores stock the fresh water variety but not the salt water.
