what kind of engine can you put in an 06 p.t crusier?

i was thinking of an engine swap. it's a v4 automatic. any ideas? sometthing farily cheap but with mroe horses

you can put any engine in any car if you have enough money.

its easier and cheaper to use engines that are designed for the receipient cars engine bay though.

There's an old expression: "Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?" If you like the PT with its frontwheel drive, you are kind of limited. As others have suggested, you can turbo-charge, supercharge, and/or use nitrous oxide to boost your stock engine. If you want to rebuild, you can probably do a slight overbore and maybe get a stroked crankshaft. Some head work would also be in order.

Why don't you just invest a few bucks and have a set of exhaust headers installed, and maybe add nitrous. That would certainly increase your performance.

If money is no object, and you really want to blow some minds, there was an article sometime last year (I forget which magazine - sorry) about a person who did a complete revamp of his PT and installed an Art Morrison frame and a hemi! Now that's overkill, but like I said, "Speed costs money...."

The designer of the PT originally had plans for a V-6 but when the vehicle went to production, they left NO ROOM for anything other than the L-4. Some options are: Turbo Charger - Super Charger - NOS Injection.
You need to do some push-ups. (Homework) There are a lot of After-Market products to help increase performance. Unfortunately, anything you do will void the Manufacturer's Warranty. Talk to the guys in the dealership garage!

if yopu can find a turbo motor from a wrecked donor car (pt cruiser or neon), that would be your best bet, but other than that, youre kinda limited.
