Its just so absolutely quiet when the snow is falling.

I would agree that the snow absorbs, not reflects the sound. I would add that animals are hibernating, birds are gone, insects underground. There just isn't a whole lot outside to make noise.

It is quiet because the snow muffles any sond. There is air pockets in the snow, so when sound waves travel toward you, some get caught in the pockets.

everywhere up or down the Western area of Washington state may be heaven. yet you need Bellingham, and places up north of Seattle, which, mutually as being laid back, are slightly greater conservative than Seattle or places south.
