"the tallest tree in the world, a title that goes to "the Mendocino Tree", an 800-year-old Sequoia (Redwood) which towers more than 367 feet (112 metres) above the forest floor near the northern California town of Ukiah."

This tree is not considered the largest, merely the tallest. The largest (by the amount of wood it contains) is considered to be the "General Sherman" redwood, which is a mere 275 feet tall, but is 30' wide at its base.
