Hey, I tried out for Annie and I got a part as an Orphan. I don't have a name though. What songs am I going to be singing? How long will I be on stage?
Thanks

Songs:
Hard Knock Life
NYC (if the director re-uses the orphans as part of the general chorus)
You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile
New Deal For Christmas

I think that's it, but it's been a long time since I last did this show.

How long you'll be onstage depends on how much the director integrates the orphans into the various orphanage scenes and into the NYC sequence. Suffice it to say that you'll be on a lot.

The Orphans' names are Kate, Duffy, Pepper, Molly, Tessie and July.

The songs: It's a Hard-knocked Life, (Sometimes, really depends on the director - Maybe), You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile, and New Deal For Christmas.

It really depends on the director if he includes the songs from the movies. There are additional songs in the Annie movies - Dumb Dog, Sandy, Maybe (Reprise), Let's Go To The Movies, etc.

Basically (on the original Broadway play), you will be on stage in the beginning (scenes 1 & 2), the middle (scene 10, i think) and the end (Finale).

Here's the link to the libretto:

Buy the Original Broadway Recording with Andrea Ardle. It's still the basis of all productions.

Also, I'm sure you've seen the movies (1982 movie version with Aileen Quinn & 90's Disney movie with Alicia Morton) countless times so you won't have trouble. It's a great show. Have fun.

I'm not sure how long you'll be on stage....I'm audition to get into Annie on Thursday so if I make it, I'll try to tell you if I find anything out.

Orphans (see which your orphan matches up with most:)

Molly: The youngest orphan. Notable lines would be (In "It's The Hard Knock Life") the lines 'Merry Christmas!' and 'Santa Claus, we never see'.
Kate: Second youngest orphan. Not much about her....
Tessie: The 10 year old orphan. Notable lines would be (In "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile") the lines 'Hey hobo man, hey dapper dan, you've both got your style..."
Pepper: 12 years old, "tough" orphan.
Duffy: The 13 year old orphan, the biggest orphan in the orphanage
July: The quietest, 13 year old orphan. She sings the lines (In "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile") 'Who cares what they're wearing....' to '...and not from head to toe.' the first time they sing those lines.

I hope that helps!
