could someone help again. the battery light comes on ,on the dash panel when driving, have charged the battery but it keeps doing it, also if the battery is low on charge could this have an affect on the power steering,is it linked somewhere to the electrics, or could this still be a dodgy pump, cos it came back on, but goes stiff again every now and then.

most likely unrelated, unless you have an electric assisted power steering pump. check if your alternator is good by removing the positive terminal while the car is running. if it dies, its your alternator. if it keeps running, you most likely have a bad battery, or possibly a short in the system. take it to a parts store, they can usually test the battery for you.

This could be alot of things. first check your belt. The fan belt turns the pulley on your power steering pump as well as your alternator. If the belt is worn or loose it can cause you problems. Also check the output of your alternator to make sure it is charging. if all checks out ok, maybe a bad battery, get it checked.

A low battery doesn't make the battery light come on. A bad alternator does. It sounds like the belt that drives the alternator and pump is slipping. Some other pulley on that belt might be seized and is keeping it from turning all the time.

on some vehicles the same belt drives the power steering pump, and the alternator. if the power steering is locking up, it isn't turning the alternator. if the alternator isn't turning then it's not charging the battery, and that will turn the battery light on.

i've got faith it relatively is an electro-hydraulic potential steerage pump on that one, so it sounds very similar to the alternator isn't producing correct. Assuming the force belt is there and not slipping, i might get your alternator output checked. may be a loose cord, may be a failing alternator.
