Genisis 1:11 says
Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.
Of couse this assumes that you believe the Bible is a valid book. (I do and there are a lot of historical and social references that validate the Bible as trustworthy and accurate and divinely inspired)
