Why do the Americans keep slamming Canada?

We too have just increased our troop levels in Afghanistan and committed our troops to be there until after 2009.Since our ground forces are not that large it would of been foolish to be in Iraq also...mind you there are exchange personel serving with your troops and we do have patrol frigates in the Gulf as well.So why do the uneducated slam us?Even on TV the are trying a rigorous ad's to find new recruits. Its like being in the gym shower , sure the guy beside you has a little package but he still plays out in the field.

I find that the most animosity I will receive is from Hard core conservatives.

I am a flag waving Canadian, I toss in that fact on any question where it is of some relevance.

The fact of the matter is you will get some bitter that Canada isn't fighting in Iraq. It wasn't a UN sanctioned war, it wasn't Canada's obligation to go, instead we have a full commitment in Afghanistan as well as some relief and peace keeping troops in Haiti.

There is also the ideology that because Canada boasts socialized heath care, subsidized post secondary schooling, a an extensive social safety net that we are a highly socialist or even communist country.

The final point is that Canada is very socially liberal. We allow for Gay marriage, there little debate over abortion and stem cell research. Canada puts forth many progressive policies in the name of human rights and equalization that may go against somebody who holds deep fundamental values.

I am an American.
I appreciate all of your support in Afghanistan. That's where Al Qaeda and terrorism breeds.
It should be an effort supported by every country that abhors and wants to try and put an end to terrorism! Be assured "Western Culture" isn't just the United States!

As to Iraq....many Americans don't agree with the administration in that regard either!
The media creates a good deal of the foder!

Canada is a mini America in a lot of ways. we share many resources including Norad. But, if you get on most of the forums, its Canadians slamming America over and over again, at least I see it a lot from my point of view. The Average Canadian doesn't relize what America does for them and how important we are. Just like the average American doesn't realize that Canada is the most important country we have to rely on. The main problem right now is most of us are at a loss for words with the wars and the political assholes in office in most of the civilized countries.

I'm pro war in Iraq but I'm sickened by the lack of good judgement by our leadership. This war has been going on longer than WWII and its time we get the hell out.

Maybe they are just jealous that we Canadians have a consistently higher standard of living (according to the U.N Human Development Index).

And for people mocking Quebec for wanting to secede from Canada: at least they aren't causing any civil wars, as happened when eleven states unconstitutionally seceded from the US in the 1860s. Just for the record.

American Republican spammers are un-ruley and are doing it, because their parents have told them to un-favor Liberals. They have been informed that Canada is full of Liberals and is a Socialist State. Misinformation that creates animosity towards other people and Nations. The bottom line is they aren't very nice!!! I love Canadians, and the best part of the Rocky Mountains are in Canada.

I live right next to you - Maine - and this is all news to me.
I have experienced no animosity toward Canadians except minor bitching from some of the fishermen when they claim Canadian imports lower their prices - and, for what it's worth, I don't pay much attention to this since the fishermen seem to be doing OK.

Would Canada just back off and give Exon all the oil.

Thursdays OPEC report said Canada had 7 times more oil than Saudi Arabia. That makes Canada fair game for Mobil Chevron and Conoco.

Face it in a few years all of Canada will be polluted by oil development. By then Corporations will own the entire Nation.

Always been a staunch supporter of Canada since Canadian embassy personnel risked their lives to get some of my fellow citizens out of Iran back during the hostage crisis in 1980.
