be making the men turn gay? This question is with humour because I am not homophobic, but more seriously, I understand the effects of increased estrogen could be harmful to the eco system. Example male fish have been found with female organs. Could this be happening to humans in the gay sense???

Hmmm, as has already been noted there is a whole lot more to human sexuality than relative hormone levels.

To answer the question though, we are now exposed to a variety of eostrogenic compounds from day to day. Many plastics (including cling-film) are made soft through the addition of chemicals called phthalate that show similar effects to eostrogen.

It has been proposed (although far from proven) that this is a cause of falling sperm counts in Western men and that it causes other developmental problems with reduced genital size (!) and failure of the testes to descend correctly.

Other sources of these compounds include pesticides such as DDT, PCBs from oils.

First about the pollution of drinking water by estrogen: This problem may arise in regions with dense population, indeed, and it has also been a subject of scientific discussions among environmentals. Ideas to detect the presence of estrogen in water have also been presented. High concentrations of estrogen are not obvious, however, if the raw water supplies and waste water effluents are situated in a correct way (no effluents upwards the river before raw water input or in the close neighbourhood of raw water reservoirs).

About effects of low concentration of estrogen in men: small fraction of estrogen is normally produced in the body of male persons and we are still men...some features of male body may be affected by very high concentrations of estrogen but I do not believe that young boys turn to be gays by drinking water, however.

How would the estrogen get into the water? Besides, homosexuality has little to do with male estrogen levels; I know many gay men who are very masculine in ever sense of the word. Your question isn't humorous; it is homophobic.

I have the answer for you. The effect of estrogen on turning men gay and testesterone turning straight women to lesbian is well documented but not after birth; before birth.

Let me explain. Simon Le Vay determined - through autopsy - that gay men and straight men have one single difference: the size of their hypothalamus (a gland in the middle of your brain and well known to be the source of sexual stimulation in human beings). With gay men it is small and fluffy were as in straight men, it is solid and large. He repeated this experiment with lesbian and straight women and found the reverse. Straight women had small/fluffy gland were as lesbian has large/denser gland.
So hypothalamus size wise:
Gay men = Straight women
Lesbian women = Straight men

Following years of studies, he determined that this gland is developed before birth. When he examined pregnant mothers during period of pregnancy he found that this gland gets developed during the 6th month of pregnancy. If the mother body thinks she has a daughter, she would give Oestrogen (female hormone). If she thinks she has male son, she would give Testosterone (male hormone). For some un-explained reason, the mother would give the wrong hormone. Depending on how long this hormone is given, the child may come up as Bisexual, straight acting gay guy, camp gay guy, or in extreme cases transsexual (a person who believes he is in the wrong body!).

This cannot be reversed after birth. In fact, the Nazi's experimented on gay men by over loading their system with testesterone and all it did is got them more sexually active but to the same sex! What is more, we as human after birth produce both hormones. Even straight women have teststerone in their body, helps them be more competitive and if taken artificially as overdoes they may exhibit some masculine features but they still are very much attracted to men! Don't worry about Estrogen in water, thereTeststerone in Cow meat and chicken feed...we are getting one hell of mix!!

Hope this helps.

well it has been measured that if you drink 70 l of london tap water (so it is already processed) you have enough oestrogens in your body to avoid pregnancy and of course to turn fishes of the opposite sex and all the stuff you say about gender changing in nature

Gender and Sexuality are two different entities. Do your homework before you start asking stupid questions.
