make the men turn gay? This question is with humour because I am not homophobic, but more seriously, I understand the effects of increased estrogen could be harmful to the eco system. Example male fish have been found with female organs. Could this be happening to humans in the gay sense???

Oh, I am absolutely convinced of it. I've spent a lot of time over the last few years researching gender and sexuality in an effort to understand more about transsexualism, simply because I am one, and have never had access to the information until now (South Africa=repression until a decade ago + Slow as hell internet...)

Here's what I've found, from various sources:
* The male of our troublesome little species may be completely sterile in less than a century due to falling sperm motility, which is the result of increased estrogen in our environment;
* The reported cases of "deviant" sexuality and gender identity has been increasing steadily since people started bothering to keep track;
* Incidences of gynocomastia, where men develop breasts due to estrogen overloading their system, has shown a marked increase.

There're lots of others I could get into, but anybody who'se interested can do the research themselves. In closing, yes: The conservative religious captains of industry gayly pumping chemical pollutants into the world are directly responsible for their first-born's turning around and saying "Daddy, I'm really a boy on the inside", or "Dad, I'd like you to meet Steve, he's my boyfriend."

An increase in estrogen in genetic males during development will cause them to be born intersexed, or possibly transgender, most often if enough estrogen is present. Often intersexed people are sterile, so it could be a problem eventually.

I don't think it's making men gay but they are getting a little feminine! I was at college last week and we had to cut down some trees and one of my friends (a guy) said woah, stop a minute, while he stopped to put on hand moisturiser. And I remember conversations with some of my other mates about which face moisturiser is best and they were advising me to wear buttermilk, guys are just such wosses now!

It seems to me that would create more of a risk for being born TS than some adult becoming gay. It seems that for hormones to affect your gender identity or orientation, they would have to be administered prenatally.
