In reading the answers to your question I'm seeing a lot of very defensive white people out there who are completely missing the point. Of course there are individual white people who don't discriminate; no one's disputing that.
But overall as a race it has been white people who have imposed themselves and their standards on the rest of the world. Africans, asians, hispanics, or any other group never went into Europe, stole their people, land, and resources, imposed their religion, customs, and standards on the indigenous people, forced them into unpaid labor, reaped untold wealth from these practices and refused to share that wealth with the people that they'd oppressed. Yes people have always had tribal skirmishes and battles and have always oppressed the losers of those battles, but never on the scale or with the scope or total intensity of hatred and hostility that white people did. No one continues to enjoy the fruits of those past labors as white people do today. Some have more fruit than others, but ask any white person if they'd trade in their white skin for another color and they'd answer with a resounding NO. You know that white skin affords you privileges that others just don't have. Denying it (or labeling it generalizing) doesn't make it any less true. And for those who wonder why black people dislike whites...read this paragraph again...this is the reason.
It was past generations of white people that started this whole debaucle, and the current generation that refuses to take any responsibility for ending it. I know you feel that since you personally didn't do it, why should you have to take any responsibilty for ending it. Because even those who don't actively discriminate, perpetuate the problems of racism by continuing to do nothing about them, and by continuing to benefit from its (racism's) legacy. And your forefathers (the ones who did start this) aren't going to jump up out of their graves and take care of it. That leaves you.
I'll repeat...WHITE PEOPLE STARTED THIS, I think this gentleman just wants to know ...why? I'm kind of curious myself.

Obama doesn't have a victim mentality and his mum is white. There already exist what white slaves, it's called human trafficking. I grew up in 3 black communities and never had an issue (only 2 very minor issues). However, Brian Milligan is from where I grew up last and he got beat up for dating a Black girl (Buffalo, NY) by Black teens. Also, when will people realize there are poor Whites in America? All I can tell you friend is please never think Black Africans act like some Black Americans you meet. Black Africans are a lot more kind to WHite people. But overall majority of Black Americans I know are very nice to me.

Most of us don't.
People who discriminate, (and I'm not only talking whites here cos I've seen more than a little discrimination from non-whites), because of ignorance, insecurity and self interest. For example, if discriminating against you means I can get what you own and I have no conscience mabye I'm temped.

hatred springs from jealousy from all nationalities of people. When a person's life is not going well, they want to put the blame on other people for the mistakes they had done on their own free will. It is our inherited imperfection & the Chief Ruler of this world, Satan the Devil, who is able to control the minds of people & make them do stuff that will bring injury to others. As 1 John 5:19-20 brings out that the 'whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one'. Plus the fact that the Devil has a very short period of time to mislead as many people as he to destruction.

It's not just white people there are bigots in every race, and the fact is white people are quickly becoming the minority.

I think that 99% of people who are racist or discriminative of race were simply raised that way. However.. there are exceptions.. but I believe that most people are not racist.. I think it is natural to feed in to stereotypes and generalizations from time to time, but I don't believe that it makes someone racist.. I think that these are things that are shoved down people's throats by society.

Hate knows no boundaries, has no master and
will leave nothing untouched in it's path.
It is good to talk about racism to break down
the myths. But please people, stick to what's
real in your life. Generalizations don't help.
If we work more on understanding and less
on hate, we can get through to the other side.
Peace and harmony would be really nice......

Why do the minority's do it? And how can you judge all white people by what some do? White people are no longer the cause of racism in our society, we are the biggest victim of it.
