i have been told this by a friend but cant understand it....wot about the TV as well...seems strange ....oh and how do you clean the screen ?

As long as it's well looked after there's no reason it won't last 10 years. Try not to touch the screen, don't leave it on standby all the time, clean it with the proper equipment (wipes, no polish etc...)

The short answer is "No" as I have an NEC 15" TFT monitor for 6 years now which is still working like new.

Well the one I'm composing this with is 5 years old and is still absolutely perfect so.......
I use a spray screen cleaner or spectacle cleaner (depending on where I am when I remember I need some), a spectacles cloth (i.e lint free) and a light pressure.....

ive got a laptop with tft from 2000 and its still kickin in 100% condition!

As for cleaning them, the advice given is all correct - I can only add "VERY carefully".
